Sheeples

Sometimes all we can do is shake our head in disappointment at the predictability of people around us. 99.9% of humanity is just pure and simple fucking sheep. The only way to move them to even bleat is with a taser.

Ticking Time Bomb

… and then there’s that one—or two or three, depending on your proclivities, I imagine—that puts a grin on your face that just sits like a ticking time bomb waiting for something wicked that need not be conveyed in words.

The Allure of Faire

It is not the bobbles and beads of Faire that draw us in and seem not to let go as much as it is the recognition that "real life"—whatever that may mean—has lost its enchantment. It is not so much the accuracy "of period" that is important, but the engagement of life itself that shows there is more living to be done in… an afternoon of searing heat or downpours and mud than in a whole year of 9-to-5 clockblocking.

Breathing Again

There are some events in life which are shocking but oddly come with a sense of relief. Our response is not so much to grieve the loss as it is to start breathing again.

Providence Gives

I think that sometimes there are things that just can’t be appreciated properly in words. All you can do is look across the room and quietly admire what Providence has given.

Smell of Victory

I think that some days just smell like victory. (Of course, having said that out loud, I should probably expect defeat to settle into the adjoining cubicle by the end of the week … *sigh*)

Religion of Fear

Religion is not about love and peace but rather the solidarity of hatred and fear. Christians, especially, do not love their neighbor. Instead, they are the ones pointing fingers and directing the bombs into their neighbors’ backyards to ensure their front row seat to an ash-filled apocalypse. Jesus weeps for his pathetic little lambs.

Attitude Adjustment

I like the quiet nights of imagination-run-wild and discussions of wondrous creativity. Such an amazing difference it makes to my attitude and views of life, the universe, and everything.

Star Trek Man

I might have to start calling him “Star Trek Man” since he inspires me to boldly dream where I’ve not dreamed before.

Mad

Most already think I’m mad, so why not just prove it?

Disappearing Pants

I am a little perturbed that I can’t find my pants. Granted, there are times when losing one’s pants is quite alright. The day of leaving for Faire is not one of those times and certainly not when there isn’t any time to suddenly *poof* new ones into existence.

Chewing Through the Straps

Some mornings it is worth chewing through the straps if only because the aftertaste of leather is preferable to that of crow.

Facing Truth

What I want to see is initiation on a personal level that causes change, a conversion (I talked about the conversion issue in the last three paragraphs of this micro-sermon) that is so radical it transforms the individual into something new (or, rather, transforms them into something "full"—a concept I’ll return to later). I want to see someone that has changed to the point that not only is the old shed away and left behind, but the new is brightly shining and others can see it clearly.

But that requires facing the truth. And that’s the hardest part about initiation, change, and even just living life: facing truth. We hate the mirror. And we hate even more those who hold mirrors.

Simple Life

Life used to be so simple, so uncomplicated. Then one day gestation was over. Just like that and it was just *SNAP* over. A little push there, a little smack on the ass here, a little cry for the big blue alien in a mask, handed back to the naked creature with ugly teeth showing, and things got all WTF from then on.

Masque of Love

I have to believe that the only bond that can unite is love. If I believe that only pain unites us as brothers, then I reduce our interactions to that of animals, of uncontrolled passions and impulses, of elemental forces without charge or courage to be changed by will. However, I must recognize that love comes in many forms and dances with each of us in a different mask.
